This project will also include a study of the existing seawall.
Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Expansion
MDG is currently working on part of the $755 Million Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project, which will include the construction of a new tunnel under Thimble Shoals Channel. The new tunnel will be one-mile in length and will provide two new lanes for Southbound traffic. MDG’s scope of work will include designing a ventilation building at both ends of the new tunnel.

This project includes the design of a new five-story, 172 unit residential development, which will sit atop two stories of parking in New Rochelle, New York.
New Point Comfort Lighthouse
MDG will serve as the Prime Consultant for the restoration of this historic sandstone lighthouse that was constructed in 1804. It is the third oldest surviving lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay and the tenth oldest lighthouse in the United States.
Tru by Hilton Hotel
MDG recently began the structural design for this new four story, ninety-eight room hotel in the Lake Wright area of Norfolk, Virginia, adjacent to the new outlet mall.
Monumental United Methodist Church
Founded in 1772, this church is one of the oldest Methodist churches in Virginia. It was moved to its current location in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1831 and sustained extensive fire damage in January of 2018. MDG is part of the team that will be providing restoration drawings for the structure. The steeple will need to be replaced, as well as much of the roof framing.
Peninsula Pilots Athletic Training Center
This project consists of a new training facility at the existing War Memorial Stadium property in Hampton, Virginia. The facility will be approximately 7,500 square feet in size and will include a batting area, a concession area and restrooms on the ground level.
Virginia Beach House Raisings
McPherson Design Group has been working with municipalities, homeowners, and businesses on the Southside and the Peninsula to raise homes threatened by flooding for over 15 years. During that time we’ve elevated more than 50 structures, most of which were done using grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and in partnership with local Emergency Management Departments and Personnel. We are pleased to announce that we will continue to assist our neighbors in Virginia Beach with the protection of their homes. McPherson Design Group is one of a select number of A/E consultants chosen by the City to provide design services to homeowners using the FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Grants under a new project management pilot program intended to streamline the execution of these projects.
