The Law Building - 100 Plume Street
Norfolk, Virginia
This project included transforming a 111,433 square foot nine-story commercial office building into an apartment community with 135 luxury units and several commercial tenants along the first floor. This historic building in Downtown Norfolk, Virginia was originally built in two phases. The first phase included the middle and eastern wings and was completed in 1902. The second phase included the western wing and was completed in 1912. As the renovation progressed, it became apparent that two different methods of construction were utilized throughout the two phases. The first phase uses concrete and terracotta, while the second phase used steel and concrete hybrid. This variation provided many design challenges throughout the renovation. This project was won an Award of Merit from HRACRE in 2016 for Best Multi-Family/ Commercial Housing Project.
