Temporary Stage Calculations and Certification

This project included calculations and certification of a prefabricated stage that was utilized for the Virginia Tattoo performance at the Norfolk Scope. The stage was an aluminum structure with aluminum beams spaced at 2’x6” on center and aluminum girders and columns supported by the existing floor. Our office also provided calculations and certification for various stages for Virginia Arts Festival in 2001-2003.

Seating Expansion Study

In 2017, the City of Norfolk hired a design team to provide a study to develop feasible options for ways to expand the seating capacity of the Scope Arena. McPherson Design Group was part of this team. The expansion design has currently been put on hold.
