BEQ Building 3601 Renovation, JEB Little Creek Fort Story
Norfolk, Virginia
This design-build project was a complete renovation of Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) Building 3601, which is a three-story, 183,500-gross-square-foot steel and concrete structure. The renovation brought the building into code compliance and provided adequate accommodations for enlisted E1 to E4 personnel, as well as reservists on active duty. All the existing rooms in the BEQ were updated for double occupancy, bringing the total occupancy to 638. The renovation included updating the entire building envelope and all existing building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and fixtures. The facility was updated to meet current Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (AF/TP) standards and progressive collapse requirements. Sustainable concepts were incorporated to achieve a LEED Silver Certification. The approximate construction cost of this project was $35 Million.
