New Town United Methodist Church
Williamsburg, Virginia
McPherson Design Group provided structural engineering services for the design of this new, one-story church in Williamsburg, Virginia. The church is approximately 20,000 square feet in size and consists of a main sanctuary area, an adjoining nursery, classroom and office spaces, and other ancillary spaces, such as restrooms, storage areas, etc. All facets of the design utilized wood construction, except for long spans and lateral bracing where steel framing was necessary. The main sanctuary area contains long vaulted trusses along the center axes of the building. These trusses span between large beams that flank this space. McPherson Design Group provided construction administration services for this project as well.
