Trinity Episcopal Church
Virginia (circa 1762)
McPherson Design Group completed field investigation and a report describing the condition of the Church, which dates back to 1762. The structural investigation and analysis of the first floor of the Church indicated that the floor structure was deflecting causing low points in the floor. Structural Investigation included drilling and testing of wood members and restoration of wood members, as well as brick and stone foundations. The existing first floor was constructed of hand-hewn timbers on brick bearing walls (hand-made brick). Termites damaged many of the joists. We provided all the repairs in a report to be completed by a General Contractor. In addition, several areas of the brick had to be re-pointed and rebuilt. During investigation, we found a mini cannonball that dates back to 1776.
