Roanoke Cement Company Wharf Modifications
Chesapeake, Virginia
This project involved the multi-phase restoration of operability to the Roanoke Cement waterfront in Chesapeake, VA. The existing pier had not been used for a decade and had fallen into disrepair. The various phases included new independent supports for the existing pneumatic conveyor system, demolition of the pier, and repairs to other existing infrastructure (including concrete platforms on failing timber piles and replacement of fender systems). New concrete breasting and mooring dolphins were also designed and constructed to allow safe operation of the waterfront, permitting the importation of cement from ships with a dead weight tonnage of nearly 60,000 metric tons. McPherson Design Group also provided a feasibility study for future expansion.
